My yoga classes uniquely combine my knowledge of anatomy, alignment, and movement patterns with my passion for the transformative practice deeply rooted in tradition and interwoven with droplets of wisdom from Eastern philosophy. I started teaching yoga in 2015 when I moved to Houston to send my son Bo, only 5 years old at the time, to a specialized school for high functioning children on the autism spectrum. I left my 16 year career as a physical therapist in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas and decided teaching yoga would allow me a flexible schedule and help me prioritize being a mother of a child with special needs.
My journey from a physical therapist to my true calling as a yoga teacher comes from a strong desire to be true to myself and live in alignment with the philosophy that promotes a fulfilling and purposeful life. I wholeheartedly believe in the potential of the human body and the human spirit. I believe this because I have experienced it and continue to experience it daily. My yoga practice has helped me through some dark days. I believe the body and mind are connected and through the physical practice we develop strong mental traits. “Through our practice we develop within us a trait of awareness that is calm, has perspective, and can help us to pause so that we do not get swept away by overwhelming emotions.” - Eddie Stern
I teach Ashtanga because it is the method that transformed my life. I have a daily physical and philosophy practice. I practice regularly with my authorized teacher, Taylor Hunt (since 2022). I attribute the depth of my philosophy study to my teachers Ricky Tran (since 2016) and authorized teacher Tim Feldman (since 2017). And I am grateful to my teacher David Kyle (since 2017) for teaching me to find playfulness and creativity in my practice with Rocket yoga.
I am dedicated to lifelong learning, extensive training, and building a community committed to the well being of body, mind, and soul. I believe my role as a teacher is to help students identify limiting patterns and beliefs and guide them on the path to self knowing. The journey starts with the poses but leads to a life of health, mindfulness, intention, awareness, and peace.
